Tips for a Cosy and Calm Night In 

Self care can take lots of different forms but one of our favourites is a relaxing, cosy night in. Setting an evening aside regularly for pampering and de-stressing is a great way to keep stress levels to a minimum and take some time for yourself. 

We wanted to share a few tips in this post for how to plan a calm and cosy evening. 


Create a Calming Environment

Put on some good music to set the tone for the evening. This doesn’t necessarily have to be meditation style music  — anything you enjoy can be calming and put you in a positive mindset. 

Therapeutic oils can be an easy way to get yourself into a calm mindset. 

With the right scents, you can set the scene for a cosy and calm evening. 

A few scents that we love for creating a calm atmosphere include lemon, lavender, jasmine and vanilla. Use a room diffuser or scented candles to make your home feel like a spa for the night!

You can get a similar effect by rubbing therapeutic oil blends on pulse points or if you prefer, you can also roll a few drops onto your palms and inhale the scent. 

Our September Calm Collection box featured the Wildheart Organics Tranquil Roll On. The blend of therapeutic oils include lavender, neroli and sandalwood — all of which are well-known for their calming and restorative qualities. 

Run a Scented Bubble Bath

Run a relaxing bubble bath and pour in as many bubbles as you can get away— even better if it involves a calming and therapeutic scent as well! A warm bath can help to relax your muscles and soak away the aches and pains of the day. 

You can pamper your skin that little bit more by brushing your skin and exfoliating away dead skin cells. Body brushing boosts your circulation, reduces the appearance of cellulite and helps to remove toxins. 

Rub some moisturiser into your skin too to help it be silky smooth in the morning.


Give Yourself a Mini Facial

The steam from the bath will open up your pores so this is a great time to turn your attention to your skin. Give your skin a good cleanse to get rid of any dirt and oils that have built up over the course of the day. 

No cosy night in is complete without a pampering face mask! Apply a natural one to give your skin a boost. Natural face masks are less likely to irritate your skin and they can hydrating and rejuvenating. 

We can highly recommend the Isla Apothecary Refine and Radiate Face mask, which we featured in our Radiance Collection back in May. It got great feedback and if you weren’t lucky enough to receive that particular box, we’re sure you’ll love it just as much as those that did!

A mini facial can be very pampering for your mind and body and it’s something you can easily do at home. Using a luxury facial oil is great for this. Massage a few drops into your skin and enjoy the spa-like feeling it gives your skin. 

Our September Calm Collection featured Naya Glow Everyday Facial Oil. The blend of patchouli, orange, lemon and juniper berry is calming and regenerating for the skin — perfect for a relaxing night in! 

You can make facials even more pampering by combining them with a Gua Sha. Some of the benefits include boosting circulation, plumping and smoothing the appearance of your skin and helping to make wrinkles less visible. 

Stroke it gently across your face and neck (and take care to avoid the delicate eye area). We included a Rose Quartz Gua Sha in the Calm Collection box. 

For the ultimate calm experience, put some CBD oil under your tongue and keep it there for a minute to let it get into your bloodstream. The Calm Collection box included a 250mg bottle of gorgeous tasting George and Mae CBD oil in lemon flavour. This retails at £29.99 so we were thrilled to be able to feature it! CBD oil can help with lots of health problems, including anxiety and pain relief. 

Have Delicious and Healthy Treats On Hand

And of course, you can’t have a cosy night in without some delicious snacks and drinks!

Plant-based treats are great go-to snacks and they can be a comforting addition to a cosy night in. Keeping refined sugar to an absolute minimum is also a good move if you have anxiety (sugar can make symptoms worse!). 

If you don’t have a sweet tooth, try some savoury snacks instead. Plant-based crisps are really popular and are low in fat too. Olives are a great choice too. 

And if you do crave something sweet, there are so many guilt-free snacks available. You’ve got plenty of options for nutritious and healthy choices — and no sugar crash later on!

We included a couple of guilt-free, healthy snacks in the Calm Collection to add some extra treats for a calm and cosy evening. 

Curl up on the sofa with a vegan and plant-based Rich Cacao and Morello Cherry snack bar from Love Vegan by Jennifer, and some Purely Plantain Chips, which are full of nutrients and low in carbs. 

If you don’t want to drink alcohol, there are lots of choices beyond just water or tea. Whip up a yummy hot chocolate or sip on a calming herbal tea.
